As the title suggests this specific thread will see dramatics, and have a rather morbid sense of doom.

The WhiteWolf staff are at odds with eachother, and the server is suffering because of it. The staff, myself included, have become so use to roleplaying with eachother, both in public and private, that it has become hard for new players to approach and / or feel comfortable around us. This has lead to a confrontation that I may or may not lead to the server being taken down and abandoned. It seems all of us have different opinions on which way the server should go, what should and should not be added and allowed, and even our availability to maintain and upgrade the server is hindering us..

As it stands (and suggested above) the server is on the very edge of being shut down. The above reasons, the lack of new players / ability to keep new players, and the game itself have put us in this situation. What we need to discuss is what are we going to do about all of this?

As for the arguements, they have allready taken place in another thread and are to be left there. Any posts accusing one or another of anything aside from being constructive will be deleted. Lets keep this on subject, and figure out what we should do from here.

I was not aware that the staff itself was undergoing problems when I was approached for my opinion on this particular topic.


When it comes to White Wolf, I can always say that we haven't had an excessively large playerbase, sometimes I blame the amount of haks we require, the in-depth rules we have(which requires an extent of maturity), and perhaps the WhiteWolf system we use, which may be unfamiliar to most NWN players.

However, pushing aside the above stated facts, in a way we are all to blame for the failing of the server, on multiple occasions, I mean this is the third time we've gone through this, correct? The History of WW hasn't been a glorious one for some time, but it hasn't been downright horrible either.

We've had our good times, and our bad times, we've had our good staffs and we've had our corrupt-evil=selfish-bitch ones.


I'm with you guys all the way, as I have been since Nebari, since Gideon, For you Scarss, and you Knightstar.


I have a lot of memories here, I've developed my most In-depth RP Character here, I'd like the server to stay around for as long as possible, but I don't want to feel selfish about it if it is affecting other peoples lives.


If this problem in itself, the faculty feels it is their doing, then I suggest that they somehow come to an agreement over the situation(s) at hand.

Either way, if what is to come is the end, or a new beginning. I will be here.

Allow me to be more specific on the cause of our problems.. It is our storyline, more specifically the lack of the storyline's presence in game. While there are hints and clues in game they are not obvious that you should go here, then to this place next and so forth. Because of such only a couple of us know the storyline and what is meant to happen.

I believe I have a solution for this and the problems mentioned above, but many of you (if not all) will not like it. I ask that you bare with me, for there is logic in this..

I propose that we get rid of the current storyline, and limit ourselves to two factions.. WhiteWolf is a wonderful place, but it's my opinion that we have too many playable factions.. Limit it down to humans and vampires with the rest being NPC's and we've got possibilities. Think about it. Limiting it to humans and vampires gives players better reasons to play and adventure together.. Perhaps one night you and your friends stage a raid on the garou sept, then the next you dive into the mage towers in search of a powerful relic. And so forth.. The human faction would contain the Hunters, so there would still be some element of conflict between the factions.

As for the storyline, I would like to see us return to the origional.. A city where everyone's trapped within with an army waiting outside ready to destroy anyone that tries to leave, with hints and such from the various NPC's to allow the players discover why in game.

I'm not sure how to continue with this, so I'll wait for questions..

If anyone has a better idea, I'm all ears.

As you mentioned to Nino, the idea of setting the server up to be more classic World of Darkness would actually be a big help. Rather than focusing on faction conflict, it's the world itself that's the enemy. NPCs and enemy factions, yes, are a big part of that, but the playable races themselves should be restricted to mortal, vampire and possibly Garou. I agree with that entirely. Mage is a game that has to be balanced VERY carefully in order to be fun for everyone, and we've all seen the results if it gets out of hand. While Changeling and Wraith are truly, truly amazing games, not many people know much about them, and they're nothing in power when compared to an elder vampire.

I'm not suggesting locking out the other games, such as Changeling or Demon. Rather, those should be discussed amongst the DMs and NPCs created in order to provide enemies for the player characters to deal with. Using the other games to show players how truly small they are in the World of Darkness, and how little they actually know. Vampires don't know jack about fae. Mortals don't know anything about anyone. Garou wouldn't actually know what to do with a mage if it bit them on the tail. And heaven help anyone who runs into a Wraith.

As for reverting to the old Nebari storyline... *shrug* I think the server would benefit more from something totally new, but then again, it may be easier for the DMs to deal with a storyline they're aware of and know what to do with. I'd suggest a brain-storming session between the DMs to toss around storyline ideas and decide on one.

A bit of progress was made, the server isnt going to be taken down, atleast not for awhile. Knight, Nino, Freelance_angel, Arb, and myself sat down and discussed it for a couple hours tonight. I'm not going into details, mainly because I'm tired and need sleep, but we discussed a new setting and plotline, along with other ideas. Vampires, Garou, and humans will stay for sure.

Ok I guess while I am at work I will post a brief run down of some things.

Yes the served has been in danger of being taken down do to certain issues. But some progress was made it is just a matter of getting some agreements for every one to agree with.

That said there are likely going to be alot of changes going through if those agreements are made where people can all be reasonably happy. That said yes all but. The humans, vampires, and garou are going to be removed from the server supported factions. Hunters will likely be a quested or RPed into subfaction for the humans. There will be no seperation of the vampires into factions which will have server support. Garou will only be Gaian garou only at least for the time being. Any of these factions could change and adjust at a later time.

Players will be able to make and create their own guilds still should they want and they RPly make since. But player guilds are likely not to recieve any server scripted support or special items.

Items will likely change in max quality and power to only use the CNR crafting system. This will alot mean that the treasure and economy will likely be effected through out.

Location of the server has been decided to change the location has yet to be decided as does the time period through the year range is looking like anything from 1100 to the mid 1300's.

While the first white wolf server had no huge server driven plot and did very well with just player driven plots or dm events that were being ran, it seems this version will have some form of plot line which has yet to be worked out.

The other big change is going to be that there are not going to be any PC leaders of factions. They will all be NPC ran the lower positions may be filled by players of exceptional RP abilities and characters which have earned those positions. This will be a huge change from all prior versions of the server.

Other notable changes coming will be that the server will be dropping to require nothing but cep for haks until our player base is large enough to support their use of them again.

There are alot of other things being talked on but none of those are decided yet and are not worth mentioning until it is for sure what hose outcomes may be

Indeed we are working on it. I'm diligently building away new areas with the little time I get to myself. None of us want the server to go away.

As far as I know, Knight's still dealing with a few things and getting them ironed out. So she's got some RL stuff that needs fixing before she can devote her time back to the server.

Things have been a little hectic here. Moved in with Josie Saturday, she's closing on a house next week. She's really excited about having it too Wink Got a bunch of painting and such to do, but that wont be a problem.

We'll see what happens with the server in the next few weeks, but I very much doubt it'll be up before then. I appologise for leaving everyone hanging. She's just switched to a better paying job and has been working alot of odd hours. But we're getting things straightened out.
